All Exhaust Air heat pumps will require an annual check by a qualified technician to ensure it is operating within the manufacturer’s tolerances. An exhaust air heat pump that is not operating correctly can lose up to 25% of it’s efficiency in both under performance and operating energy consumption. This could cause the expensive auxiliary heater to be kicking in so the unit will use considerably more electric to operate than it should.
